I am a first-time student. How should I prepare for class?

You will be moving and bending your body for about 75 minutes, so wear comfortable clothing—preferably something with some stretch in the fabric. Technical moisture-wicking exercise clothing can be helpful, but is not critical. Some postures, like niralamba (shoulder stand) involve gentle inversion, so ladies wearing a simple t-shirt should consider wearing a sports bra as well. It’s best not to eat for at least an hour before class. Bring water and a hand-towel, as you will likely work up a sweat. If you don’t own a yoga mat, you may rent or purchase one at the studio.
